Joining an affiliate program is one of the easiest ways to monetize your blog. Here’s our top 10 Affiliate programs for bloggers. Perfect For Beginners or Established Bloggers!

Affiliate Programs For Bloggers To Make Money

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Have you ever bought something that you loved so much that you told all your friends about it, and then they bought it too? You probably had a laugh and said you should be on commission for recommending it! Happens to me a lot!

Well basically that’s affiliate marketing, but the difference is you CAN GET PAID for your recommendations. In fact affiliate Marketing is the number one way to make money blogging. With the right products and affiliate programs you can make a decent income from it!

Affiliate marketing is promoting and selling other people’s products and being paid a commission for it. How cool is that!

You don’t need to make your own products, have piles of stock in a warehouse or fulfil orders and post products to customers. The Affiliate program does all the techy stuff for you!

You basically get paid a commission for recommending your favourite products with your tribe!

S-W-E-E-T!

Can I Make Money With Affiliate Marketing?

YES & YES!! You can make money with affiliate marketing but be WARNED it’s not as easy as sharing a link and waiting for the money to roll in. You will need to do some work yourself:

  1. Find products and services you love and that will help your readers SOLVE their problems. Any old item won’t cut it, it has to be something that will SERVE and help your readers!
  2. Become and affiliate for the product or service. This can be tricky for beginners so the easiest and cheapest way to become an affiliate is to join a reputable affiliate program. See our list below no plugins required!
  3. Promote, Share, Recommend the product or service and REPEAT! (this is the hard bit!)

Have you ever heard the saying about a rolling stone… something about moss… I can’t quite remember it myself. But the gist is that getting started as an affiliate can be slow on the income stream at first. Being an affiliate blogger needs some work, but once you get ‘rolling’ it will gather speed and turn into a great income stream!

The biggest piece of advice I will give you, and one I learnt the hard way, is to be CONSISTENT!

You will fail if you are not consistent about working on your affiliate links. This means connecting with your audience, finding out what they are interested in and post, share and promote… REPEAT x5!

If you take NO for an answer then this is not for you! Did you know you need to ASK someone up to 5 times before they will buy, sign-up or opt-in!!! So you have to keep on asking and promoting and putting your recommendations in front of your community.

I am not saying you spam them, you just have to be creative with how you do it!

How To Monetize your WordPress Blog Quickly {From Day One}

So if you want to know the secret to monetizing your wordpress Blog site quickly, in fact from day one, then Affiliate Marketing is it! You don’t have to be an established blogger either, it’s perfect for beginner bloggers to start monetizing their blogs!

Don’t have a WordPress site? You can also add links to your Blogger website too, read more about that here.

It’s as easy as finding products, resources or services you really love and that you know your community will love too. Then start promoting them with a special affiliate link in your next blog post!

You don’t even need to have a blog! In fact, you can, if it’s in the terms and conditions, promote products using social media and your email list. But your must check the T’s & C’s before doing this.

If you have a blog it’s much easier, although there are some simple things you need to make sure you do properly so you don’t get kicked out of the program. Again make sure you check the terms and conditions of the programs you join for details.

Affiliate Cookies

Before You Start Affiliate Marketing

Cookies & Payment Terms

Before joining an affiliate program you’re going to want to do your research. Checkout that they have products that are suitable for your niche, check they are reputable. But the TWO most important things to check are the Cookies and the Payments.

Cookies

Without going into the tech side of things, a cookie, in affiliate marketing, is a unique ID tracking link used by an affiliate to promote various offers. When a visitor to a website clicks on the link, the unique affiliate ID is stored on their browser within a text file. It’s how affiliate programs can determine where the click to buy came from. For you, this means that you get paid the right amounts for the traffic and referrals that you make.

Ideally the longer the cookie period the better!

Payment Terms

Another important consideration to the make before joining an affiliate program is the Payment Terms and Conditions. Firstly how are you getting paid, cash, cheques, bank transfers, currency, vouchers, or credits. Is there a minimum threshold that you must meet before getting paid, do you receive payouts weekly,  monthly, quarterly?

Also the commission payout rate you will receive. Commission rates vary greatly depending on the items you promote so be sure to look into this closely before selecting the products you are going to promote.

Getting Started With Affiliate Links

A really good place to start is by joining a reputable affiliate program. They take care of  everything for you. They find the products, generate the embed codes, create your referral links and collect & pay the commissions. Usually for FREE!

When I first started I used the FREE  Thirsty Affiliates plugin to help me.  It helps you create short links and insert nofollow codes into affiliate recommendations, which is pretty important. Thirsty Affiliates also creates some pretty awesome reports so you can see what’s affiliates are working (or not)!

All you have to do is create and account and request to join their program. Here’s our list of some of the highest paying affiliates programs for 2019. So what are you waiting for? Check out our Top 10 Affiliate Programs For Bloggers and start making MONEY from your blog!
